James A. Herne The American Ibsen, 1978 John Perry. Paperback Edition
James A. Herne The American Ibsen, 1978 by John Perry is a biography of, to some scholars, "the father of modern American drama." He wrote and acted with his wife in his plays that emphasized his version of the "Rise of Realism" in American Letters.
Margaret Fleming,1890, proved too realistic for NYC audience who preferred Herne's more sentimental realism in Shore Acres.
This paperback book remains firmly bound and, although well handled with browning pages and some foxing through the years, has very few marks and no tears. It is in good vintage condition. The book measures 6 inches by 9 inches by 1 1/4 inches and has 343 pages.
