Carolina Playmakers The First Fifty Years, 1970 by Walter Spearman with the assistance of Professor Samuel Selden provides a well illustrated history of the Carolina Playmakers, those students over the years who participated in the UNC theater programs.
There are 40 black and white photographs, most of them full page.
Established in 1918 by Professor Frederick Koch at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the Playmakers brought considerable fame to the University--
(1) with productions of more than 1000 plays,
(2) their emphasis through Prof Koch on "folk plays,"
(3) and their influence on outdoor drama with the continuing (current season May through August, 2018) productions of Paul Green's The Lost Colony at Manteo, NC.
This hardcover first edition copy is in excellent condition, text and dust jacket which is marred only by a single 1/4 inch tear at the top of the spine.
The book measures 6 inches by 9 inches by 1/2 inch and has 178 pages.
