British and American Plays 1830 - 1945, 1947 Willard H. Durham and John Dodds
British and American Plays 1830-1945, 1947 is a serious attempt by Willard Higley Durham and John W. Dodds to represent the work of the most important dramatists writing in English during this period with 20 plays. There are 16 illustrations.
Each play has a brief introduction supplying vital information and perceptive comments. There are also biographical sketches for each playwright included and a four page bibliography of critical books.
This is a heavy book (3 pounds) which has one serious flaw as the front cover with the flyleaf is beginning to separate at the binding. It is still, however, firmly attached and the general binding is strong. There is a name on the flyleaf and there are a few marks in the final play; otherwise, the book is clean and without tears.
The book measures 6 1/4 inches by 9 1/2 inches by 1 3/4 inch and has 796 pges.
