Grein, Dutch by birth who became a British citizen, worked in London theater for 50 years. He founded the Independent Theatre in 1891 along with other substantial accomplishments.
His literary style as a drama critic is distinguished for its elegance, wit and very knowledgeable and sensible frankness. Very refreshing to read for the modern reader of reviews!
This rare* and highly collectible hardcover edition is in fair to good antiquarian / antique condition. There are signs of weakness in the cover to text binding, but the text is firm throughout. There are no marks after the note on the reverse of the front cover and no tears beyond the top right edge of the flyleaf. There is considerable browning of the pages.
The book measures 5 inches by 7 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches and has 306 pages.
