Scott Kennedy, a Black American professor and actor, went to Ghana, Dakar and Nairobi searching for his theatrical Black roots as well as his AfroAmerican heritage. The combination produces some dramatic surprises as well as emotional revelations that are revealed with a theater person's understanding of his unique opportunity with pen and camera.
With numerous illustrations and black and white photographs, this book is 306 pages long, and is divided into three parts (personal dreams, search in Ghana for theater, and poetic impressions).

This copy is in good condition, firmly bound, with a little shelf wear to the attractive silver gray dust jacket, a bit of staining on the spine and foxing at the top edge of the pages when closed. Except for a couple of notes in the margins, the pages are clean and unmarked. The previous owner's name is written on the flyleaf.
