Japanese snuff bottle Hand painted porcelain Mid-20th century
Hand painted porcelain Japanese snuff bottle with delicate colored geisha art on both sides is complete with a stopper and spoon.
The long and rich history of the Oriental snuff bottle is well illustrated in this item. Presumably becoming popular in 18th century China Elaborately decorated snuff bottles were soon manufactured in Jpan for the Chinese market.
This snuff bottle is in fine condition. Including the stopper it is 2 and 3/4 inches tall, 1 and 3/8 inches wide and 3/4 of an inch in thickness. Stopper and delicate spoon are also in excellent condition. it is identified with three Japanese characters in red on the bottom.
