This general encyclopedia is a handy reference, even considering its publication date. Its emphasis is upon the Western world, ancient to modern, although it does include the orient and other continents in some measure. The reference material is carefully but succinctly presented.
Masterplots in the title is a bit misleading because these vintage books do not include plots. The word is a reference to the publisher's series.
The two volumes include listings A to Kao and Kay to Z. The hardcover books, blue with gold lettering, are in good vintage / antique condition - strong, firm binding, no tears or damage and a few inserted marks to show death dates of authors. Each volume measures 6 inches by 9 1/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches and combined have 1200 pages. There are no dust jackets, and the books show some self wear as the pages are browned at the edges.
This collectible literary reference set will make a nice addition to any bibliophile's library.
