Shakespeare and The Nature of Man Second Edition, 1958 Theodore Spencer
Shakespeare and The Nature of Man by Theodore Spencer, first presented and published as the Lowell Lectures in 1942, this rare and collectible hardcover Second Edition, 1958, and is now hard to find for purchase online.
Except for a name on the flyleaf, this red book with gold embossing is in fine vintage / antique condition- strong binding, no marks or tears. The cream and red dust jacket, however, shows its usage and age with ragged edges and stains.
This 2nd edition measures 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/4 inches by 7/8 inch and has 233 pages.
Praised as the most distinguished contribution to a reader's understanding of Shakespeare's mind and purposes since the publication of A. C. Bradleys' "Shakespearean Tragedy" in 1904, Spencer's work maintains that reputation.
