The Patriot, 1939 Pearl S. Buck

Regular price $4.50
The Patriot, 1939 was written by Pearl S. Buck (1892-1973) winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938.
  • This copy is a First Edition.
  • The novel features Patriotic Chinese Students along the Yangtze River.
  • It is also a novel of romance and action involving both China and Japan.

This first edition copy includes a colorful and informative dust jacket which is, unfortunately, in three somewhat tattered pieces (see photograph). It is, however, worth having.

The copy itself is flawed with a bookplate on the reverse of the front cover, a verifying inscription on the flyleaf, some fading on the top and bottom of the spine and a serious weakening of the binding between the flyleaf and the half title page. Otherwise, the book's browning pages are clean and without tears or marks while the binding (except for that one place) is firm and reliable.

The book measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/4" x 1 1/2" and has 372 pages.
