Vintage Sterling Silver Star Brooch
This simple star brooch has seen a lot of love in its day, and is ready to see more - as you wear it proudly. Crafted of 925 sterling silver, it dates from sometime in the mid 20th century and displays minimalist and mod influences - with a retro nod to the Style Moderne Art Deco movement of the 1920s and 1930s.
Measuring 1 1/8 inch across, the traditional 5 point design is slightly convex ( gently puffed / domed) on the front and flat on the back. Just above the horizontally placed hinged pin back "925" verifies the metal as genuine sterling. Above that, there is a tiny round hole where something (perhaps a bail or pendant loop) has been cleanly removed; this does not show from the front.
The no-frills metalwork is smooth and bright, with traces of earlier antiquing or natural oxidation peeking through the angles where the points meet, and slight signs of wear on the surface.
For casual outfits, as well as professional, business oriented attire, this collectible piece will be ideal for American patriotic holidays, Western and Southwestern events, Christmas, and all seasons. And for either a wife or husband (think: tie tack or lapel pin) it will be a thoughtful keepsake gift for that all important 25th wedding anniversary celebration.
