Vintage Years of the Theatre Guild 1928-1939, 1972 by Roy S. Waldau is a critical history of America's most distinguished theatrical organjzation. It follows its illustrious production history through the 30s until 1939 when a number of artistic failures and the financial disasters of the Depression doomed the agency.

Its productions reflected the social and political problems of unemployment, left-wing  movements, the New Deal and the approaching world War.  There are 24 production photographs.  An appendix provides detailed information on its many productions (pages 392 to 494).

The book is in good vintage condition: browning of pages, no tears or marks in the text.  The dust jacket shows shelf wear on the spine edges with a half inch tear on the back top and another on the bottom. It measures 6 1/4 inches by 9 1/4 inches by  1 3/8 inches and has 519 pages.
